Long Run and Wood Chopping Bee

My long run of the day was already 80 minutes long. Somehow I've been more tired this week and the running exercises have been harder than last week when I almost flied on the route. I have to think slow jogging again that my heart rate stays on the low level.

After the running exercise we chopped woods for the next winter. I carried the woods and stocked them to our shed. And in between I carried some rocks while I cleaned up more room to the woods. I enjoyed pretty much of the activities. It makes me so thrilled that I am able to do all kind of hard things after the quit hard pregnancy and back problems.

Barbeque Season Kicked Off

Today we spent the Ascension's day by starting our barbeque season properly. We made food and spent the whole day outdoors with the neighbours. I'm afraid that the barbeque season will become the stumbling block of my greatly started project if I don't concentrate properly on my eatings. I should forget unhealthy things and the next challenge will be to learn to do healthier foods and prefer vegetables when planning the barbecued dinners. Otherwise I will gain the lost weight back during the summer. If you have any good barbeque recipes for vegetables, I would be glad to receive them all..

Before the food I made my basic 30 minutes running and aerobic exercise with Nike+ Kinect Training, so maybe I burned a few calories today, too.

Hill Run and New Muscles in the Arms

Today I have found new muscles in my arms because of the yesterday's muscle training and the drill of woodshops. But if the arm muscles are hurting, it doesn't keep me from running and I did my second hill run exercise and again with the pram as couple of weeks ago. I ran a bit longer spurts today than previously but I felt that I recovered sooner and the heart rate dropped to the low level easily.

My husband has also done the first real training session with the Nike+ Kinect Training and now he really admits that it is real sports. Well, it is easier to watch the movements than do them. Now I have also experience in being in the training audience.

Long Run of 70 Minutes

Today I did my long run of 70 minutes. It felt (again) so much easier than last week and I had to lengthen the route quite much compared to the last weekend long run. Then I ate cake and all the best delicacies in our granddaughter's birthday party. Then in the evening I gathered data of all my comparable long runs I have done this spring. Below, there is times, distances, average paces and average heart rates of four different long runs. And there is obviously a big improvement to the pace if today's and previous long runs are compared. Little by little I'll become a faster snail..

My Weight After 18 Weeks

It was time for the 10. weigh-in this morning, if the initial weigh-in is counted. My weight was 78.5kgs, meaning -0.5kgs in two weeks. Again I'm a bit behind the schedule as I presumed yesterday. But again I have lost weight, and that's the most important.

Too Low Heart Rate? Me? No, Can't Be..

My husband tried Nike+ Kinect Training for the first time yesterday. He also did fitness test to create personal training program. He was shocked how bad his balance was and even if he has ran and thought to be in good condition, part of the drills were hard. He got fitness score of 50 and athleticism score of 57, if I remember correctly. We talked afterwards that training the balance is good for the future and may help the days of retirement better than only jogging. Today I have tried to get him admit that the muscles are hurting, but I don't hear any complaining yet. Maybe it comes tomorrow..

I ran today my basic 30 minutes exercise, it felt again easier than previously. And something very historical happened. My heart rate alarm reminded me of too low heart rate while running!! I couldn't believe that I could sometimes be reminded to run faster because the heart rate decreased under 120. OK, it was a downhill, but still! After I returned home I did my training session with Nike+ Kinect Training and it was so fun to beat old records with the well warmed muscles. This week the training has shown its best sides. It feels I could reach the sky while training.

Tomorrow I should do the weigh-in. Again it seems that there is no change to expect. Now I feel that it's every other weigh-in feels more difficult and every other gives proper weight loss results. Now I'm again feeling a bit swollen even if I eat all the time same way..

Aha Effects

Nike+ Kinect Training

I could continue my program with Nike+ Kinect Training without doing any extra fitness test. Maybe I'm finally learning to use the program properly. And I got so many new movements now that I'm again very excited to face the next training session on Thursday. I have new love-hate relationship with the drill where I have to go from blanks position to the pushup position and back..

Running

I did my first interval exercise this morning and I was able to run my half marathon pace without exceeding the heart rate limit of 160. This might mean that I could except better performance in my next half marathon in autumn. It's so enjoyable to run with higher pace after this snail style period I have had.

Next Event

Today I realized that there is only 60 days left before the next event, that quarter marathon I'm going to run in July. Maybe I should be more in panic already..

Halfmaraton Plans and Long Run of 60 Minutes

Today we booked a cottage from Levi, Lapland for a long weekend in September with a friend. We are going to spent weekend there with our families and participate in half-marathon in Ruskamaraton event. The registration to the event is not yet possible but because we already have accommodation I think the half marathon plan is already quit heavily official.

Yesterday I made a long run of 60 minutes. I stayed on a route all together 1 hour and 15 minutes but the distance I ran was only a bit over five kilometers. I think it was a successful long run because I had patience to run very slowly to the end. Typically, I start to run with higher heart rate when I don't focus on my running pace and cross the heart rate limit couple of times. It so easy to think that next exercise I'll do more properly. Today I managed to focus on the current doings. And we have been lucky to have the best spring weather this weekend so the running was again so enjoyable!

Running and Good Looking Feet

Running

I keep up wondering how easy the running can feel. Yesterday I ran my basic training and did it without the pram and it felt so much lighter than with the pram. And the hill run and interval exercises also make the basic running to feel easier but I couldn't remember that it happens straight after the first faster exercise. There couldn't be any better combination than nice weather and successful running training.

Gifts

And today I finally redeem my 4kgs gift as I went to have leg care. It was so relaxing and it was nice to get the feet in good condition for the summer. And it is good to continue exercising with a bit better pair of feet. I should still redeem massage and outwear to get my gift list up to date after all the weight loss achievements..

The First Hills

I did the first hill run exercise yesterday with the pram before I picked up the girls from daycare. I did the warm up and running part myself and then walked the cool down part home from the kindergarten with the kids. We have lack of good hills in Oulu area so I just did five spurts between the basic running exercise. It was nice to notice that I can now run as fast as during the hill run exercises couple of years ago before the pregnancy and just before the half marathon. And I had pram with me! Without it I could run even faster. But because of the excess weight I've got, I feel that my legs would start to hurt if I would go that fast any longer. So my legs still need time to get use to running steps before I can increase more the tempo of the exercises. The snail style exercises are still the most important ones even if there are some spurts and higher heart rate periods added to the training program.

Aerobic Session

This evening, I did aerobic session that I haven't done for a while. It was the last session for the four week's period and now it's time to create new program again. It felt so hard and included mostly 70 second drills and 16 drills altogether. I remember when I started there were always about 20-30 second drills and only ten drills altogether but I felt as died as today. There is still challenge with part of the movements which I can't do properly to the end of the drill. For example burpees and some x-jumps and squat jumps. I'm dreaming to get so much power as soon as possible that I can do the whole session properly from start to finish. I'm looking forward to see how long it takes.

Training and Running Program Updated

I just made exercise plans for the next four weeks while I followed the Ice Hockey game of Finland vs. Russia. So the training program is now updated an finally it's time to speed up the running steps every now and then.

Five years ago this weekend..

..I celebrated the first mother's day and in addition I ran the first half marathon. I had five days older baby than I have now, the same weekend but this time the condition to run half marathon is only a dream. Five years ago I had already get rid of all the weight I had due the pregnancy even if my weight was the same in the end of both pregnancies. That time I still swam two days before the delivery date and I could take care of my condition much better.

The feeling  is so wistful every time I see news about HCR, the running event we participated then and twice after that. This is the third time we skip the event since 2007 and again it feels that we should be there in Helsinki and run, instead of being home and dream. Maybe next year I'm again in HCR route.

Six Men's Pushups!!!

I can do six men's pushups and 15 one leg squats with both sides!!! Even if the fitness test results didn't basically change this time, I can still feel improvement. The fitness score is now 50, which is a unit worse than four weeks ago and the athleticism score is now 34, which has stayed the same than previously. I had problems with the kinect sensor in the beginning so I had to move it a little bit that I don't hit furniture. That explains partly the worse results than last time.

New Decade

If you heard a big bang this morning it was my scale that finally broke the decade and was agreeable to give result which is under 80 kilos. So my new weigh-in result is 79.0kgs which is 1.5kgs less than two weeks ago and 8kgs less than in the beginning of the project. I'm very happy about this result because I haven't exercised at all over a week now and it seems that again I'm in my schedule to achieve the target weight.

I'll return with the fitness test result when my husband returns afternoon and I have time to do it..

Tomorrow, Tomorrow I'll Exercise Again

Hi, I haven't been very active with the blog postings lately. I had this terrible flu which doesn't seem to disappear. I have kept myself busy with other things to avoid becoming a crazy because of this long pause of exercising. Now I have thought to try training tomorrow again because the week 16 is coming to an end and it's time to do fitness test and weigh-in again. I'll do the test but I'll continue next week the same training program still to replace the exercises I haven't done due to the cough I have had. 

Tomorrow I'm going to reserve an appointment to the leg care. It's the four kilos weight loss present I have promised to myself but I haven't had enough time to have one. Otherwise I have been unsuccessful to motivate myself with the gifts I have thought to have when I succeed. Maybe I need other methods to keep me motivated than the presents.

Raking Days

The hardest exercise I have done so far this week is two hours raking I did yesterday while the kids were playing outdoors. There is still half of the garden without raking but my flu didn't like the dust the raking caused and I had to leave it undone. I still have the cough and I'll return when there is more athletic news. Now I have to rest to get the fitness test result out on Friday.

Everything Is Going On

Girls eating out

This week started by meeting my friends again. We had a dinner in downtown of Oulu. It wasn't hamburger with French fries but a soup and Caesar salad I ate this time.

Spring holiday

Girls had extra spring holiday this week. They didn't go to daycare at all so all the exercises I have done in the evening time and I haven't had time to update my blog at all.

Tiredness

After the activities of last weekend, I've been very tired the whole week. At the beginning of this week I didn't have time to sleep enough because we had to do our grocery shopping, clean up, do laundry and all the other things which were undone due to busy weekend.

Flu

When I already felt overtired, our son felt stuffy on Tuesday and had the first flu and fever and of course he started to sleep badly too. Luckily it seems that it is over now and we sleep well again but I got a flu myself so I haven't exercised after Wednesday at all. Now I still have a cough and I think I have to rest still couple of days before any harder exercises.

May Day and guests

On Thursday we celebrated First of May in Finland. Since the years of studying, except last year, we have spent First of May together with couple of my friends from university, so they came to us with their dogs again from southern Finland and stayed the rest of the week with us.

Other activites

Despite of my flu, we have spent lot of time outside, walked with the dogs and with bicycling kids. Our five years old daughter goes so fast with the bicycle already that I can't think to take her with me to running route, but daddy surely can. And we got a trampoline! Santa Claus brought it on Christmas and it has been waiting summer in the storage but this week it's assembled into our backyard. And I have tried couple of jumps already.

Swimming class

this evening the oldest daughter was in swimming class and meanwhile my husband went to swim with the youngest daughter. The little guy took a nap and this mum enjoyed the silence and blog writing.
